Some general information
about the guy behind the site.

If Andrew were a South Park character.

Hi again. Thanks for coming to my web pages. My name, as you may have guessed, is Andrew Rogers.

"I like winter better than summer, rain better than sunshine, night better than day, silence better than sound, and secession better than union."
Florence King, "The Misanthrope's Corner,"
National Review, November 25, 1996.

With a father in the U.S. Navy, I spent my formative years on both coasts and on an island in the middle of the ocean. In high school, I did speech and debate, and very little else. Returning to the ancestral homeland for college, I didn't do even that much, and so they let me leave early.

Today, I'm the exceptionally fortunate husband of Karen, a Christian, a pug-rescuer, a free-market anarchist, a student of history, a yinshih-wannabe, a writer, and more.

"To follow Nock, what traits must a man of the Right have? He must be both fiercely independent and believe in the power of social authority; he must love tradition but hate the state and everything it does; he must believe in radical freedom while never doubting the immutability of human nature and natural laws; he must be antimaterialist in his own life while defending economic freedom without compromise; he must be an elitist and antidemocrat yet despise elites who hold illicit power; and he must be realistic about the dim prospects for change while still retaining a strong sense of hope and enthusiasm for life."
— Jeffrey Tucker, "Albert Jay Nock: Forgotten Man of the Old Right"

Apart from my life with my wonderful bride, one thing I'm finding pretty interesting these days is my exploration of individualist or free-market anarchism. Within the last few years, I've moved from a relatively traditional libertarianism to a much more consistent, rational, and (in the word's original sense) radical set of beliefs. You can read more about this in my individualist-anarchism section.

He "is libertarian but not liberal. He is conservative but has no time for Mrs Margaret Thatcher.... He is a scholar of Evelyn Waugh. He tends to be coolly religious, either RC or C of E. He dislikes modern architecture. He makes a great fuss about the old Prayer Book, grammar, syntax and punctuation. He laments the difficulty of purchasing good bread, Cheddar cheese, kippers and sausages.... He enjoys walking and travelling by train. He thinks the Times is not what it was and prefers the Daily Telegraph."
— Alan Watkins, describing the "young fogey" in
The Spectator, May 1984.

In the spirit of the above, I'll add that...
